EMSA has moved on

A member of the Board of Directors of EMSA developed this web page for free, helped to move the domain, obtained free hosting for non-profits, and performed other services above and beyond the expectations of a board member. They chose to leave the board, expecting to leave on good terms, but the Executive Director chose to abandon this site and this domain name and build a new site with a new domain name. The reasons for this are not clear to the former board member, who had provided all the logins in order for the Executive Director to take control of this site.

It’s worth considering why a struggling new non-profit would do something like that.

The Equine Museum of Science and Art:
Be Part of the Beginning!

Howdy, we are EMSA—The Equine Museum of Science and Art! We are creating an immersive homage to the horse in Portland, Oregon, designed to bring equine love, appreciation, awareness, and accessibility to new heights.

Here is some concept art (AI-generated) to help you see our overall vision.

Please explore our website! The website, like the museum, is in its earliest phase. Read about our current status and plans for the future, and learn about our origins. If you have questions, or want to be part of our plans, please contact us.

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Donations and sponsorships are our foundation and our growth. No donation is too small.

This museum isn’t just about display—it’s about real-world access, welfare, and education. EMSA is designed to foster empathy, deepen public understanding of equine behavior and care, and create pathways for people—especially children and newcomers—to engage with horses safely, respectfully, and meaningfully. By supporting this project, you’re helping build a future where horse knowledge and interaction are more accessible and inclusive than ever before.

We’re proud to be collaborating with a growing list of professionals and contributors, including equine behavior researchers, museum designers, artists, immersive tech developers, educators, tribal partners, and equine professionals of all sorts. We are looking for help from horse lovers, art lovers, and all passionate individuals who want to be part of the beginning of a groundbreaking adventure. If you’d like to become one of our founding collaborators, sponsors, or contributors—we would love to hear from you.
