The idea for EMSA began in the fields, not the galleries. After a decade of working in equine education and behavior, I saw the need for a space that didn’t just teach about horses—it helped people feel what it means to be one. Not everyone can access horses easily, and too often, the complexity of who horses are gets lost in oversimplified categories. EMSA is my way of bridging those gaps—of bringing together the science, spirit, and story of the horse into a place anyone can walk into. Inspired by a lifelong love of horses and childhood visions of pink and green ponies, this museum is a continuation of that same creative spark—a space where the spirit of the horse is honored in full color.—Autumn Kushner, Founder & Executive Director
